Week 28/Third Trimester

Your baby is finally settling into the proper position for birth, with his head facing downward. He’s now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long. He’s busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccupping, and taking practice breaths. Your baby’s sleep now includes the REM phase–and that means he could be dreaming already. Though his lungs are nearly fully mature (so you might breathe a little easier if he were born now), your baby still has plenty of growing to do.

Two-thirds of the way there.

  1. Scott,

I know that we haven’t talked for a long time now but I am very happy to hear about your life, marriage and soon to be son. I read your post about preparations being made and winging it and you are exactly right. There are many things you can do to get yourself ready but the first time you hold your son they all fade away. Nothing else matters from that point on. The fact that you are preparing will certainly make some things easier on you when you make it back home but the most important thing you can do is depend on each other, remember that you are in it together and enjoy every minute of this experience. Good Luck..Congratulations…and take care of your family.
